The question I get a lot is — “Are there enough upgrades to justify upgrading my iPhone this year?” This has been the case again this year because most people don’t realise how the upgrades actually translate into real daily usage. This year, the upgrades are very significant in my opinion, however, I do get why this wouldn’t be straightforward to the average person…
Here are my initial thoughts on the iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB after 3 weeks.
Apple has produced a device that delivers almost everything that I want from a high-end or Pro iPhone, and more than the average user will ever need.
This is a feature that I wanted to see on an iPhone for a while. The high refresh-rate display changes the whole experience. Everything is so smooth and appealing. You notice it immediately as you begin setting the device up.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max had some great speakers… but these are insane. They are much louder and just sound so much better.
As someone who needs to have a lot of data stored locally on my device, the 512GB storage just wasn’t working out for me on the 12 Pro. The freedom of having 1TB of storage is such a relief. I don’t have to worry about optimising or reducing storage at all.
The battery life on the 12 Pro Max was already great and would last a full day for me even with some heavy usage. This year, they’ve managed to include a battery that is a whopping 18.5% larger 🤯. This has made for an incredible improvement.
To cut to the chase – Yes, this is the best camera on a smartphone. The sensors are larger and some new software features make this the perfect photography & videography device for anyone from the average Joe to professionals.
I think that the main factor which leads people to think that this is just an insignificant upgrade is the fact that apart from the large camera sensors, the overall build and design of this device is basically identical to the previous model. Thing is, this isn’t a negative at all. This is still the best overall design and build of any smartphone in my opinion.
Using this phone has been such a treat. Even though I switched directly from the 12 Pro Max, this feels like a huge upgrade.
There still are a few features that Apple would need to include to make the perfect iPhone for me… But that’s just me nitpicking…
If you’re looking to invest in the best overall smartphone that will comfortably last you a few years, this is the one.
